One major event hosted by SABR is the Frederick Ivor-Campbell 19th Century Base Ball Conference, which focuses on the history and cultural impact of the sport during the 19th century. This annual conference examines a diverse range of issues within 19th century baseball, including the evolution of strategies and roles in the sport as well as the impact of specific players on the game at large. It also examines the role of race in the sport in the 19th century, and the role of players of African-American descent in the culture of the game.
