Steve Gallanter’s Support of the Fenway CDC

A lifelong New York Mets fan, Steve Gallanter currently lives in Boston and has now adopted the Red Sox as a Major League Baseball team that he can support. Beyond attending games at Fenway Park, he is locally involved as a member of the Fenway Civic Association and the Fenway Community Development Corporation (CDC). The latter organization strives to preserve affordable Boston housing and undertakes civic initiatives that engage the Fenway/Kenmore community near the Charles River Basin.

Fenway CDC was established in response to the Boston Redevelopment Authority urban renewal plans that resulted in the demolition of much of the area’s low-income housing in the 1970s. The organization now owns, and operates in partnership, more than 500 affordable homes, which provide more than 1,500 people with sustainable living options. Recipients of assistance encompass society’s most vulnerable, including families, seniors, individuals with mental illness issues, and people living with life-threatening diseases.

Steve Gallanter supports Fenway CDC’s diverse current initiatives, which include a computer learning center, the Peterborough Senior Center, and a Walk to Work program.
